9 Durango Adventures to Plan for Spring Break

Planning your next trip? Craft your unique Colorado experience with Durango Rivertrippers & Adventure Tours. Whether you want to enjoy the scenery with a guided trip or you want to take the wheel, Durango Rivertrippers has an option for you. Choose your own adventure with one of our nine incredible experiences:

1. White Water Rafting

Enjoy the Durango scenery with a dose of excitement! We offer rafting trips for every experience level. If you want to enjoy the scenery with a dose of adrenaline, try our two-hour “splash and dash” trip down the Lower Animas River. If you want a challenge, our two- or three-day trips down the Dolores River come with a chance to conquer the famous Class IV Snaggletooth Rapid. Our most popular option is the four-hour “half day” trip down the Lower Animas River, which includes an opportunity to go swimming and a riverside snack.

2. Kayaking

For a more intimate river experience, try one of our kayak trips. No experience necessary! We provide all the equipment and you can choose between single and double kayaks. For the more daring, experienced paddlers, our guided trips will give you a chance to navigate through Class III rapids on the Lower Animas River. If there’s anything you don’t want lose or get wet, make sure you leave it at home!

3. 4×4 Tours

Explore hard-to-reach places surrounding Durango with a 4×4 tour! We’ll navigate the La Plata Canyon and ascend to Kennebec Pass over 12,000 feet above sea level. Learn local lore and visit the old ghost town of La Plata City. We offer private or group tours, all perfect adventures to take as a family. To see Durango in its best light, you can also take our twilight 4×4 tour and soak in the scenery as the sun sets.

4. RZR Rentals

An RZR rental is perfect for the explorer who wants a more hands-on experience. With this specialty off-road vehicle, you can cruise through the mountains at your own pace and direct your own tour. We provide the helmets, fuel, and directions — you decide the rest. Choose your off-road experience with a two- or four-seat rental.

5. Jeep Rentals

Our Jeep rentals offer you the most versatile choose-your-own-adventure experience. You can climb the mountains and backroads during the day and still cruise through town at night. Our cars are clean, well-maintained, and come with 10-ply tires. Don’t limit yourself to dirt or pavement: our Jeep rentals can do both!

6. Stand Up Paddle Board Rentals

Rent a stand up paddle board to enjoy the views and get a workout at the same time! Your rental will include the paddle board and all the gear you might need: paddle, flotation device, helmet, wetsuit, and more. Never tried paddle boarding before? We offer lessons, so you can confidently join the fastest growing water sport.

7. Ziplining

Enjoy Colorado from the tree tops with our zipline adventures. All the equipment is provided and the staff are thoroughly trained to keep you safe. With incredible, unforgettable views, our zipline experiences are perfect for thrill-seekers and nature lovers.

8. Mesa Verde National Park Tours

Expand your horizons and go back in time with a tour of Mesa Verde National Park. You can enjoy some of the best preserved cliff dwellings in the U.S. without any of the planning. Our knowledgeable guides will give you a personal tour and your ticket includes a gourmet lunch from local businesses and covers all park fees.

9. Historic Train Rides

Revel in the lore of the Old West with a ride on the historic Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. You can ride like a local with a one-way trip and still have plenty of time to explore downtown Durango or add another Durango Rivertrippers adventure. You can also choose a round-trip ticket to make sure you don’t miss a minute of the spectacular scenery.

If you can’t choose just one — that’s okay! Durango Rivertrippers & Adventure Tours offers more “in-house” activities than any other company in Durango, and you can choose from lots of package offers. With 30 years of experience and an untarnished service record, you know you’ll be getting the best possible experience. Contact our reservation specialists today!

Join us on a raft trip down the San Miguel River in Telluride, CO. In the spring and early summer this snowmelt-fed river plunges from the high peaks of the San Juan Mountains. NOTE: This river flows typically during the end of May and stops at the end of June. The dates we have loaded are the dates we are running this river. If you are looking for rafting in July and August check out our Durango River Rafting page.
