2019 Raft Guide Schools- Become a Raft Guide!

If you are looking for an adventurous, exciting and fast-paced way to make money this summer then look no further.  Working as a professional raft guide is a highly rewarding job where you get to be outside, stay in shape, work with awesome people and gain important customer service and leadership skills.  Benefits include the use of company gear, the end of season raft trip down West Water Canyon on the Colorado River and pro-deals with over 400 brands, including NRS. Go through one of our 2019 Guide Schools to become certified as a professional raft guide and join our team of fun-loving, friendly, and hardworking guides this summer!

*First-Aid and CPR are required

We offer two different guide schools so that you can pick the one that works best with your schedule.

Guide School-Rookie Raft Guide

Description:

You will be trained as a raft guide to include the following:

  • White water swimming
  • Commercial Rafting/Rigging
  • Paddle boats/Oar Rigs
  • Flip training
  • Self Rescue

Requirements:

  • Great Attitude/Punctual
  • Payment of $300 for Guide School
  • First Aide/CPR current and will NOT expire in 2019 (we can help you find a class)

  • We will not waste your time having your labor be part of our company set up. We will focus on YOU and providing you with State Certified course done over the course of 7 days.
  • We hire from our guide school. 95% hire rate
  • No guide mills! We will cap our class off at the number of guides we plan to hire each season.

Experienced Raft Guides

Job Description:

As a raft guide, you will be responsible for taking clients down the lower Animas River in company rafts while providing an interactive tour of the river and Durango.  You will be expected to help prepare for each trip and clean up after each trip, which means showing up 15-30 minutes before the trip starts.  The raft guide schedule is constantly fluctuating.  Rafting season goes from April until September or October, depending on the water levels, and we make sure to pack as much adventure into that time frame as possible.  You will also be expected to keep track of your hours and miles in a river log as the season progresses and you make your way up to Trip Leader (a guide with over 500 recorded river miles.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must have your current river log
  • Must have a valid, current First-Aid and CPR certification (Please bring certificate to guide school)
  • Lift heavy objects
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and be outside for extended periods of time
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude while interacting with clients
  • Able to work well with others as a team
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle high-stress situations
  • Show up on time consistently

 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Qualified Trip Leader and/or Guide Instructor preferred but not necessary
  • Able to make quick decisions while maintaining the customer’s safety
  • Able to demonstrate taking responsibility and leadership

Job Description:

Guiding/Driving guests to Mesa Verde, Silverton, and to La Plata Canyon. You will be driving, Jeeps, Large Open Air 4×4, Vans, and more.

  • Must have good customer service skills
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and be outside for extended periods of time

  • 1 year or more experience as a 4×4 driver, tour guide, or commercial driver preferred but not necessary
