Get the best of both trips by combining the half-day float trip with the half-day Racecourse. Your Rio Grande rafting adventure kicks off with a relaxing float through one of the most beautiful stretches of the canyon. This mellow section is a great chance to soak up the views, spot wildlife like mule deer, otters, beavers, and birds of prey, and get comfortable with paddling techniques. There’s time to swim, practice some skills, and just enjoy being out on the water.

Midday we’ll pull over for a riverside lunch prepared by your guide team. It’s a great chance to refuel and take in the surroundings before heading into the action-packed part of the trip, the Racecourse. This six mile section is full of exciting class II and III whitewater and it’s a guest favorite for a reason.

As we drop into the gorge, the scenery shifts with dramatic cliffs and rock formations shaped by the Rio Grande fault line. Rapids like the Maze, Alberts Falls, the Narrows, and the Thunderdome keep things exciting, whether you’re a first-time paddler or looking for your next favorite river run. If the water’s low, ask your guide to hit a surf wave or two. It’s all part of the fun.
