San Juan National Forest

This forest is a U.S. National Forest that covers more than 1,878,846 acres in Western Colorado and it covers most of the southern portion of the San Juan Mountains west of the Continental Divide. The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad also passes through this beautiful National Forest.

One adventure you should definitely save time for is the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. When you purchase a train ticket for this exciting and breathtaking ride, you’ll get to ride a train through spectacular and breathtaking canyons in the remote wilderness of the two-million acre San Juan National Forest. Your family or friends will love traveling by a coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive that was once on the same track as miners, cowboys, and old settlers.

Chaco Canyon

Join us on a raft trip down the San Miguel River in Telluride, CO. In the spring and early summer this snowmelt-fed river plunges from the high peaks of the San Juan Mountains. NOTE: This river flows typically during the end of May and stops at the end of June. The dates we have loaded are the dates we are running this river.
