What should I wear?
  • Layers- you will be climbing into the mountains up to over 11,000 ft in elevation. What should I bring?
  • You won’t want to forget your camera, there will be some amazing views!
  • Hat, sunscreen, sunglasses- although the temperature drops, the sun’s rays become far more intense as you gain elevation so you want to make sure you protect yourself while in our open-air vehicle

How do I get my train tickets?

We will print out your boarding passes and give them to you on our shuttle as you head up to Silverton.  If you book the round-trip tour you will receive an email and can print them out or get them at the Durango Train Station.

What should I wear?

Layers are always a good idea when traveling in the mountains as mountain weather can be unpredictable and the higher elevation tend to be much cooler, even in the middle of summer.

What should I bring?
  • Camera
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Water
Why is the Bus Up/Train Down trip so popular?

Locals and visitors both recommend this tour.  Round trip, the train tour takes over seven hours and can be exhausting.  By taking the shuttle one way you can reduce the train time to 3 ½ hours and you get to see two different views of our gorgeous mountains rather than seeing the same view both ways.

Where should I go if I booked the round-trip tour?

If you booked the round-trip tour you will start at the Durango Train Station.  You do not meet at our downtown location.  You should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure in order to have enough time to board.

  • Good walking shoes- you will be doing a lot of walking and climbing, so make sure you wear comfortable, supportive shoes
